   None had dared enter the Unnamed City in force before, fearful of the dark, cosmic horrors that dwelt within the black spires of the dead city. Fearful of the sickening, cloying atmosphere that warped the mind and soul. Fearful of never returning. In the end, it all amounted to whispers and rumors. Only the Emporium was willing to believe them, to put down coin to know the truth. To understand the truth. What transpired during the two-day expedition forever changed how the adventurers viewed the Exiled Lands.

Kai'mana, of the Watchers. Quartermaster of the expedition, pikeman.
Tyberiuss, of the Watchers. Veteran of a hundred battles, swordsman.
Zanjil, of House Asshuri. Renowned mercenary, archer.
Zorracus Bey, of First Frost. Enigmatic adventurer, pikeman.
Diana, of Shem. Dancing girl of the Emporium, porter. Killed by a young dragon.

The expedition descends into the weird, bloodied light of the city's outskirts.

Tyberiuss lures the green dragon into the killing zone. Zorracus, on the right ledge, readies a shot.

The expedition makes a desperate stand against the dragon on the crest of a sandy slope.

A spectral apparition calling itself the Archivist communes with Zorracus Bey,
offering forbidden knowledge in exchange for lost relics.

The night was held back by the light of the campfire. An old journal was discovered in the sands nearby
and given to Cal for safekeeping.

Zanjil listens as the Warmaker explains the terrible secret of the origins of the sandstorm.

The expedition searches the inner sanctum of the Citadel, the seat of power for the Priest-King.

Death comes mercilessly to an ancient serpent discovered in the bowels of the Citadel.

Zanjil holds the line while Kaimana rushes to aid the unconscious Tyberiuss,
suffering from a broken arm and a concussive blow to his helm.

The expedition rests after their two-day incursion, enjoying drink and cheer under a star-filled night.

Food for the Garden, Part One

I. The Rumor of Hope    The word of an Exile carried little weight in those days, but even the rumor of hope was enough to send men to their deaths in the terrible desert beyond the shores of paradise.    The Sentinels' River, named as such for the twin stone colossi that guarded the river, was a fertile plain that stretched for miles. Kappa turtles nested in the shade of banana trees, gazelle grazed on the teeming sea of vibrant berry bushes and grasses, and cassowaries in their colorful plumage honked and strutted up and down the cerulean river.    After surviving crucifixion and the haunted dunes of the Broken Highway, the Sentinels' River seemed a perfect sanctuary. Who would want to leave? Game was plentiful and fat, the water was clear, and the days were peaceful. Exiles, dirty and beaten and far from home, were more than happy to band together and build a new life here free from the horrors of the past.    Most of them, anyway...
